One day, Joe meets the Queen on the sandy shore. The Queen wears a blue dress. She carries a golden crown. She looks worried. Joe asks, “What is wrong?” The Queen sighs softly. She holds a rolled map. The King stands behind her. He looks tall and kind. The Princess stands close too. She wears a pink dress. She holds a tiny seashell.
The Queen unrolls the map. She shows green forest on one side. She shows blue sea on the other side. She points to a little cave. She says, “A dragon sleeps near our forest. The dragon’s snores shake the trees.” Joe’s eyes grow wide. He feels his heart beat fast. He wants to help.
The King steps forward. He says, “Dear Joe, will you find the dragon? Will you wake it gently? We want our forest safe again.” The Princess adds, “Please find the dragon and ask it to move away. The flowers cannot grow with loud snores.” Joe nods. He feels brave and kind. He bows to the King and Queen.
Joe climbs a smooth cliff. He walks under green leaves. He hears birds singing. He hears crabs scuttling on sand. He waves and says hello. He carries his wooden sword. He carries a small bag of fruit. He carries a soft blanket.
At the edge of the trees, Joe finds the cave. He sees a tall dragon sleeping. The dragon is huge and green. It snores in loud huffs. The ground shakes with each breath. Joe steps closer. He feels a little scared. He breathes slowly. He remembers his kind heart.
Joe calls softly, “Excuse me, Mr. Dragon. Please wake up.” The dragon twitches its tail. It snores on. Joe tries again. “Hello, Dragon friend.” The dragon opens one big eye. It blinks slowly. It yawns wide. It shakes its head.
Joe bows gently. He says, “King and Queen send their greetings. The forest misses its silence. The flowers need calm. The trees need to grow without shakes.” The dragon scratches behind its ear. It listens. It tilts its head. It looks at Joe with kind eyes.
Joe offers fruit. He holds out a bright red apple. The dragon sniffles. It takes the apple with a gentle claw. It nibbles and smiles. Joe laughs softly.
The dragon roars very softly. It says in a low voice, “I am sorry. I did not mean to scare your friends. I have a big cold. My snores are very loud.” Joe says, “Oh dear! A cold? You need a cozy place to rest.” The dragon nods.
Joe unwraps his soft blanket. He offers it to the dragon. The dragon wraps the blanket around one claw. It tucks under its chin. It smiles at Joe. Joe smiles back.
Joe says, “Let’s find a better cave. One with soft moss and gentle wind.” The dragon stands. It stretches its big wings. It lifts Joe gently on its back. Joe holds tight but feels safe.
The dragon carries Joe over the forest. They fly above green leaves. They see birds, monkeys, and bright flowers below. They find a hidden cave by a calm waterfall. Water falls in soft white sheets.
The dragon lands. Joe climbs down. He feels the cool mist. He smiles at the sparkling pool. The dragon steps into the cave. The moss is soft and warm. The dragon lies down. It breathes more gently.
The Princess appears at the cave entrance. She runs to Joe. She jumps into his arms. She says, “You did it, Joe! You helped the dragon find a new home!” The Queen and King arrive too. They clap and cheer. The Queen hugs Joe. The King pats Joe’s shoulder.
The dragon peeks out. It waves a claw. It says, “Thank you, friend Joe. I feel safe here. My cold feels better. My snores are soft now.” Joe waves back. He feels proud.
The Princess gives Joe a shiny seashell. She says, “This is for you, brave knight. You are our hero.” Joe holds the seashell. It shines with many colors.
We all walk back to the castle by the sea. We laugh together. We dance under palm trees. We share fruit and sweet cakes. We tell the dragon stories. We sing gentle songs.
That night, Joe rests on soft pillows in the castle. He dreams of calm waves and dancing flowers. He wakes with a smile. He holds the seashell close.
