Ellarae’s Lost Wand

Kids stories

Ellarae the little witch girl searches her farm for a missing wand with help from a Tree Spirit and a friendly Ghost.
Ellarae’s Lost Wand

Ellarae is a little witch girl. She lives on a sunny farm. She is shy. She is brave too. She loves to help.

Each morning, Ellarae puts on her soft red hat. She carries her small wand. She waves it to water the plants. She waves it to light the lamp. She says, “Good morning, sun.” The sun says hello back.

One day, Ellarae goes to feed the chickens. She has grain in a bucket. The chickens cluck. She spreads grain. They peck happily. Then Ellarae asks, “Where is my wand?” She pats her pocket. It is empty. She looks around. The wand is gone.

Ellarae feels a little frown. She feels a tiny wobble in her tummy. She walks to the big oak tree. The tree stands tall by the fence. It has green leaves and strong bark. Ellarae calls, “Tree Spirit, can you help me find my wand?” The leaves rustle. A gentle voice whispers, “Yes, little witch girl. I will help.”

The Tree Spirit shows a glowing leaf. It floats. It points the way. Ellarae follows. She walks past the red barn. She waves to the cows. The cows moo softly. She waves to the pig. The pig oinks. She waves to the goat. The goat bleats.

Ellarae goes to the pond. The water is clear. She looks under a flat stone. She looks at pink water lilies. She looks by the reeds. But the wand is not there.

Then the Tree Spirit says, “Look in the cornfield.” They walk to the tall stalks. The corn rustles above Ellarae’s head. She pushes the stalks. She hears a soft moan. It says, “Boo…boo…” Ellarae stops. She feels scared. She holds her breath.

A little Ghost floats in the corn. It is small and white. It looks sad. It holds something long and thin. It sways back and forth. Ellarae squints. She sees the handle. It is her wand.

Ellarae steps forward. She says in a gentle voice, “Hello, friend Ghost. That is my wand. May I have it back?” The Ghost tilts its head. It floats lower. It seems shy. It nods slowly. It gives her the wand. Ellarae takes the wand. She smiles.

Ellarae says, “Would you like to play with me? We can be friends.” The Ghost bobs happily. It makes a tiny happy moan. It swirls in the air. Ellarae laughs. She waves her wand. She makes a small rainbow above the cornfield. Colors glow red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.

The farm animals come out. The chickens jump. The cows dance. The pig rolls in the mud. The goat leaps. Even the Tree Spirit shakes leaves in joy. Ellarae feels her heart sing. She thanks the Ghost. She thanks the Tree Spirit.

At sunset, Ellarae sits by the oak tree. She whispers, “Thank you, Tree Spirit. Thank you, Ghost. I have my wand. And I have a new friend.” The Ghost hovers nearby. The leaves glow softly. The farm glows in golden light.

Ellarae waves her wand one last time. Flowers bloom all around. The farm smells sweet. Ellarae feels warm and proud. She learned that kindness and a gentle voice can help find lost things. She gained a friend and bright colors on her farm. The end.
